Home to some of the world's finest artists, the Detroit Institute of Arts is Detroit's most unique special events space, located on Woodward Ave. in the heart of Midtown. From intimate spaces like Kresge Court, or the grandeur of Great Hall, the DIA is perfect for corporate parties, private dinners, meetings and more.

Event Spaces

Detroit Film Theatre Auditorium

The DIA's historic auditorium, the Detroit Film Theatre, is unlike anywhere else in Metro Detroit, with state-of-the-art projection, luxurious seats, and original décor from 1927. The DFT is perfect for large meetings and conferences.

Founders Junior (FJC) Dining Room A

Perfect for private lunches, meetings or presentations, FJC Dining Room A is located on the ground floor near the Middle Eastern galleries. Can be merged with FJC Dining Room B for large events.

Perfect for larger private dinners, meetings and seminars, FJC Dining Room B is located on the ground floor near the Middle Eastern galleries. FJC Dining Room B can be merged with FJC Dining Room A for large events.

Walter B. Ford Great Hall

Located next to the Woodward Ave. entrance and Rivera Court, the Great Hall is stately and grand. Perfect for wedding receptions and large events.

Kresge Court

Designed by Detroit-based design firm Patrick Thompson Design, the award-winning Kresge Court is perfect for strolling receptions. A skylight provides guests with atmospheric scenery. With the existing setup.

Kresge Reception

Located on the second floor, Kresge Reception is home to Romare Bearden's tiled mosaic Quilting Time and is an open canvas for your ideas.

Prentis Court

Located at the center of the DIA, Prentis Court allows for views of all three floors, with an open floor plan that will allow your event planner a wide array of design options for your event.

Rivera Court

Rivera Court is home to Diego Rivera's masterwork, the Detroit Industry Murals, and many of the DIA's signature programs. Rivera Court is the ideal space for private events in Metro Detroit.

Crystal Gallery

Located on the balcony level of the auditorium, the Crystal Gallery is the perfect space for luncheons and small gatherings. Tall sweeping windows, mirrored walls, and hardwood floors create a room with timeless elegance. This space is perfect for intimate functions. (Space is available only when the theatre is not programmed).
