WHAT: Detroit Institute of Arts’ (DIA) Friday Night Live concert of compositions by CutTime Production’s Rick Robinson, including “Pork and Beans,” “Highland Park: City of Trees,” which animates Robinson’s growing up in the shadow of the 1967 rebellion, and “First Grief,” an elegy for Robinson’s father.
WHEN: Friday, Sept. 8, 7 and 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Ave., Rivera Court
WHO: The CutTime Simfonica string sextet and drums with special guest Eliot Heaton, Michigan Opera Theatre concertmaster.
WHY: Part of the DIA’s commemoration of the 1967 Detroit rebellion
COST: Free with museum admission, which is free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents
Museum Hours and Admission
9 a.m.–4 p.m. Tuesdays–Thursdays, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. General admission (excludes ticketed exhibitions) is free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb county residents and DIA members. For all others, $14 for adults, $9 for seniors ages 62+, $8 for college students, $6 for ages 6–17. For membership information, call 313-833-7971.
